The world of science lecture series: At 7 p.m. the first Friday of the month, the Staerkel Planetarium becomes a forum for a local scientist to discuss his or her specialties. Past topics have included severe weather, glaciers, the Hubble Telescope, tornadoes, insects, and wildflowers. Admission is only $1 at the door. The Saturday Physics Honors Lectures: Saturday Honors Physics Program is an outreach program for high school students; the program is open to the general public. The lectures are free of charge and are scheduled from 10:15 to 11:30 am, unless indicated otherwise. Lectures are held in room 141 Loomis Laboratory of Physics, 1110 West Green Street, Urbana, IL.
