The chemistry area serves over 300 students a semester. The area offers a mainstream sequence for science majors, which begins with Introductory Chemistry (CHE 100), and continues with General Chemistry I and II (CHE 101 and 102) and Organic Chemistry (CHE 203 and 205). In addition, the area offers courses in areas of special interest. Science majors can choose from the Biochemistry courses (CHE 222, 223, and 224). Non-science majors can choose Chemistry in Everyday Life (CHE 104), Chemistry for Health Professions (CHE 106), and Essentials of Forensic Science (CHE 108).

The faculty in chemistry all have personal interests, such as computers in education, chemical evolution, and materials chemistry. We are happy to share with students either formally through independent study, or informally. Just come by and meet us!
